Now there are a lot of dogs in the series, for two reasons. Firstly, I love dogs! If I ever make a success of these stories, I'll get another one as it has been a long time since I had one. Too much work to be able to look after one properly. Secondly, in the countryside where the stories are set, people do have dogs. This is Dick, the black labrador from the first book, Country Life, waiting for Mike to come home.
