Better role models needed!!

One of the key things in the Gemini and Flowers series is creating positive role models of gay people, which we desperately need at the moment. With so many countries going backwards as far as gay rights are concerned, we need to see gay people who are good parents, kind to their neighbours, helpful in the community and simply hard-working tax paying members of society. Instead we get bitchy queens or, in the case of Thomas in Downton Abbey, a pantomime villain who is always scheming to hurt someone.
At one point in the series he came across as sympathetic, when he tried to help a footman who he liked from being attacked. But somehow this promising storyline has been forgotten and, instead of looking at the way society criminalized gays (as it is now doing in many countries), the only gay character is a bad person, a mean individual, cruel and unkind. Considering Downton Abbey is currently the world's most popular TV program, I wish they could do a better job at representing gay people.
